PCBN diamond is mainly used for machining hardened steels, it is used in hard, grey and high-strength cast iron, cold and hot-work tool steels, nickel and cobalt-based superalloys.
Produced by sintering micron CBN (cubic boron nitride) powders with various ceramics, Element Six provides a large range of PCBN products for the toughest of applications.
CBN is the second hardest material known after synthetic diamond and has a high thermal and chemical wear resistance.
Our portfolio of PCBN products range from materials with low to high CBN content. Lower CBN content materials tend to be more resistant to chemical wear, prevalent when continuously turning hardened steels.
Applications where abrasion resistance is a major factor, as in the machining of grey and hard cast irons, high content CBN is utilized; available in both solid (unbacked) and carbide backed.
